The Technical Director of ZAYER, Luis Calleja hands over to Alain Clavier on December 20. He will transfer the position to Clavier, with whom he has shared 20 months of work to transmit his know-how. We have spoken with them about this transition and their future challenges.

THE TECHNICAL OFFICE AREA

The Technical Office area has been and continues to be one of the key areas of ZAYER. How has it evolved and what is its role today?

THE BACKGROUND

<<In the Technical Office area, the work has evolved a lot>>Luis Calleja tells us <<before we designed the mechanics of the machines and then we joined it with our colleagues in the electronics area, to finish with the visual design of each model. Each area was more watertight. Today this has taken a 180º turn and interactions between the Mechanical and Electronic departments are necessary from the beginning of the projects.>>

MACHINES WITH HIGH PERFORMANCES

<<Throughout history>>Calleja continues <<ZAYER has always manufactured machines with the highest technological features, efficiency and precision. We have been quality leaders in robust, high-precision machines. Offering high standards in both dynamism, precision and productivity. But due to the technological advance of the sector, the increase in our clients needs, and above all, the constant research and development of technology that we carry out at ZAYER, the scenario has changed.>>

ECODESIGN

AESTHETICS AND USABILITY

Calleja takes up the word<<To this we must add the aesthetic variable and its usability. We are in the era of image, and our machines are often the visible attraction in the customer’s home. The machine, in addition to performing its function optimally, must impact and generate desirability wherever it is going to be installed.>>

What changes in the ZAYER TECHNICAL OFFICE area would you highlight?

THE TEAM

<<Right now we are fifteen people in the Technical Office. >>Luis tells us<< we form a multidisciplinary team that alternates R&D&i project tasks with the development of new models and personalized adaptations for each client.>>

INVESTMENT IN R&D&i

The evolution of the Technical Office has played a key role in the development of ZAYER. The constant investment in R&D&i projects has allowed us to increase the added value of the machines and advance in the precision machining that we offer.>>

>>Technical Office has played a key role in the development of ZAYER<<

MÁQUINAS ADAPTADAS A CADA SECTOR

<<At the same time, consolidating a team of experts of the highest level and know-how in machine tools has allowed us to develop machines adapted to each sector and optimiced to offer the best solution to different clients. This constant adaptation and evolution has allowed us to present more than 20 new machine models to the market since 1984, the year I joined ZAYER.>>

FORMACIÓN

Alain Clavier, for his part, tells us <<one of the things that caught my attention when I joined is the continuous training of our engineers. We need to stay updated with the latest advances in the sector, this is key. We must constantly innovate in our engines, in the design of the structures, in the machining processes carried out by our machines, as well as in the milling heads. That is why the entire team is periodically trained in the latest technologies. Right now, for example, AI is breaking the status quo, and is going to generate a disruptive leap in the market. It’s a revolution.>>

Now that your work at the head of the Technical Office ends ¿what would you say about your years at ZAYER, and what would you say to your successor Alain?

<<After 40 years at ZAYER, I end my working life happy and grateful to the company and all the colleagues with whom I have collaborated. The experience has been very positive and above all I would highlight the good understanding that I have maintained at all levels, from the workshop staff to Management. Understanding their needs and taking them into account in daily work to solve each problem has been a priority for me.>>

<<I have transmitted all my experience and knowledge to Alain and I am leaving calm, confident that he will continue to respond to the challenges of ZAYER’s future.

I don’t want to leave without making a special mention of all my colleagues in the Technical Office. Those who transmitted their experience to me during my first years and who are already enjoying their retirement, and also of course, my colleagues in recent years at ZAYER, who have faithfully collaborated with their work and involvement, thanks to which I have been able to fulfill the objectives of my position.>>

>>I am proud to have belonged to this team<<

Thank you for your dedication and good work Luis, it has been a pleasure!
